We spent the weekend with Melody’s side of the family, and it really was an eye opener. My side of the family is lily white. Her side is a mix of color, more diverse than Bob Ross’s paint pallet. It’s always great for our kids to see, because they can feel that much more at home. They are not visibly outsiders, when they walk in the door. Not that they don’t embrace my family as well, but I think it’s nice to feel comfortable in a room. I imagine that in 50 years, maybe a few more, this will be commonplace. There will be a lot of Thanksgiving dinners and family reunions with a mix of colors around the table. Hands of different shades, held in prayer and giving thanks. Thanks, that the differences doesn’t matter, but that love prevails, as it does in our family.
